Talk about the importance of Bantu cultures from the peoples of Central Africa for the formation of Brazilian society in its linguistic, religious, festive, educational and philosophical aspects and for the construction of a diverse and multiethnic society guided by respect for difference and combating social inequality.< /span>

Tata Nkisi Katuvanjesi. Walmir Damasceno dos Santos is Taata Nkisi in the Central African Traditional Community Inzo Tumbansi; journalist; general coordinator of the Latin American Institute of Afro Bantu Traditions (ILABANTU), diplomatic representative of Brazil, Latin America and the Caribbean for the International Center of Bantu Civilizations (CICIBA). 

Janja Araújo. began her initiation into traditional capoeira Angola in 1982. She is currently dedicated to studies on women in the contexts of traditional cultures and popular African roots. Its trajectory is also marked by permanent dialogue with women's organizations both in the context of struggles for autonomy and confronting rights violations, and in these traditional contexts, with an emphasis on movements that form within capoeira, highlighting its transnational character. She has a degree in History (UFBA) and a master's and doctorate in Education (USP) and post-doctorate in Social Sciences (PUC / SP). She is a professor at the Department of Gender and Feminism Studies (FFCH/UFBA), and a capoeira master, being co-founder of the Instituto Nzinga de Estudos da Capoeira Angola e Tradições Educativas Bantu no Brasil, an organization that carries out work in several Brazilian cities and in several countries.

Vagner Gonçalves da Silva. Anthropologist; professor at the University of São Paulo; postdoctoral studies at Harvard University and the City University of New York (Fulbright Scholar Program). Author of: Candomblé and Umbanda; Orixás of the Metropolis; The anthropologist and his magic; Listed Terreiros in São Paulo; Exu - An Afro-Atlantic God in Brazil.

Rosenilton Silva de Oliveira. PhD in social anthropology from the University of São Paulo and the Ecole de Hautes Ethudes in Social Sciences; professor at the Faculty of Education at USP. Aauthor of: Orixás the cultural manifestation of god : an analysis of inculturated Catholic liturgies; Candomblé terreiros as traditional African communities.

About  collection: Through the Waters: The Bantu in the Formation of Brazil

The collection titled Through the Waters: The Bantu in the Formation of Brazil organized by Vagner Gonçalves da Silva, Tata Nkisi Katuvanjesi – Walmir Damasceno, Rosenilton Silva de Oliveira and José Pedro da Silva Neto will be published by Coleção Diálogos da Diáspora (Editora Hucitec) in printed format and by Coleção Viramundo (Faculdade de Educação da USP) in online format.

The 473-page book with 22 articles aims, through the waters, to follow the crossing of Kalunga Grande, the sea, the great river, the mirror of waters that separates and brings together in Banto philosophy the living of this world of more alive, even if invisible, from the other world, both inhabitants of dimensions of life in fruition. It seeks to meet a fair demand: the valorization of Bantu cultures in Brazil and in other parts of the world where it is also present.

Artistic Intervention: Dyambu Bantu in tribute to Nengwa Lembamuxi

The Inzo Tumbansi Central African Traditional Community of Itapecerica da Serra, in Greater São Paulo, through rhythms, dances and songs, will pay homage to the important leadership: Nengwa Lembamuxi descendant of the first traditional territory of African origin Kongo Angola of Brazil, Terreiro Tumbenci de Maria Neném.
