Fourth edition of *Classificados* released—the journal of the Métis Thematic Project (Vol. 2, No. 1, 2026)
*Classificados* (ISSN 3086-2744) is a biannual journal associated with the Thematic Project "Métis – Arts and semantics of creation and memory" (FAPESP Grant No. 2020/07886-8). Established in 2024, it reaches its fourth edition with the release of Volume 2, Number 1 (2026).
The journal disseminates research, creative work, and reflections originating from the Métis project and its partnerships. It serves as a channel for scientific communication, functioning both as an internal space for discussing ongoing research and as a platform for dialogue with the broader academic community.
Based at the Department of Anthropology at the University of São Paulo and bringing together researchers from various universities in Brazil and abroad, the journal explores the polysemy and potential connections of the concept of "creation" within anthropology—covering themes such as art, science, material culture, ecology, economy, aesthetics, nature, kinship, and politics.
In the current volume, five texts by seven researchers present a diverse range of content—including original articles, a visual essay, and a translation—spanning reflections on the practice of anthropology itself; kinship and politics in the Pernambuco *sertão*; recordings and the "de-actualization" of cassette tapes; an essay on the *Bumba Meu Boi* festival in Maranhão; and a Portuguese translation of an original English text by Barbara Glowczewski regarding Deleuze, the Palestinians, and contemporary issues of indigeneity. In the article "Collaboration as a way of doing anthropology," Gabriela Marcúrio (PhD candidate at PPGAS-UFSCar) and Jesser Ramos (PhD candidate at PPGAS-USP) reflect on their fieldwork experiences and the roles assumed by researchers: participant, volunteer, and collaborator. In “Kinship, Family, and Culture: Ways of Doing Politics in the Pernambuco *Sertão*,” Júlia Jorge (a researcher with Métis-FFLCH-USP) investigates the correlations between family and politics in Floresta, Pernambuco. In “Obsolescence and Fidelity in Recordings from the Municipal K7 Label,” Leandro Melito (a master’s student at IEB-USP) explores the São Paulo music scene through ethnography conducted at Garagem Beleza (Perdizes, São Paulo), examining the relationship between labels, music collectives, and the production and circulation of cassette tapes (the text is followed by comments from other Métis researchers). In a different format, the visual essay “The Life of the Ox” by Vitor Sampaio Soares (a doctoral student at PPGAS-USP) captures scenes and reflections on the materialization of the *Bumba Meu Boi* festival in Cururupu, on the coast of Maranhão. The translation of “On Indigenous Solidarity: Deleuze and the Palestinians”—originally by Barbara Glowczewski (anthropologist and director at the CNRS/France, Laboratory of Social Anthropology, Collège de France) and translated by Jorge Villela (Professor at PPGAS-UFSCar)—examines Gilles Deleuze’s analysis of and support for the Palestinian struggle against Israeli colonization. It draws comparisons with the history of Indigenous peoples in the USA and discusses the current state of Palestinian indigeneity globally, including in North America and Australia.
