Anthropology of Afro-Brazilian and African populations

This line of research seeks to understand socio-cultural processes involving Black populations in Brazil, with special attention to race relations, Afro-Brazilian religions, ethnic identity; and the colonial process and its transformations. Research centers and groups: CERNE (Studies of Contemporary Religiosities and Black Cultures); ETHNO-HISTORY; and NUMAS (Studies of Social Markers of Difference).
