Among the awards and nominations received for the production of our faculty and students in the last five years, it is worth mentioning:

  • Second place in the Jabuti Award, in the Humanities Category in 2015, given to the book Cultural Policies and Indigenous Peoples, organized by Pedro Cesarino and Manuela Carneiro da Cunha (Editora da UNESP, São Paulo, 2014);
  • The nomination among the 10 finalists of the 2016 Jabuti award and among the 3 finalists of the ANPOCS award for scientific works in 2016 of the book A viagem como vocação, by Fernanda Arêas Peixoto (São Paulo, EDUSP / FAPESP, 2015);
  • the APCA Award (São Paulo Association of Art Critics) 2017 for Literature, in the Biography / Autobiography / Memory category, for the book Lima Barreto: triste visionary (Cia. Das Letras, São Paulo, 2016), by Lilia Moritz Schwarcz.

Among the theses and dissertations, the following stand out:

  • The nomination to compete for the CAPES Thesis Award: Natália Bouças do Lago, entitled: "Journeys of visit and struggle: Tensions, relationships and movements of family members around the prison", guided by Prof. Dr. Júlio Assis Simões.
  • Salsa Prize "Whitten Publication Subvention Award 2019", awarded to the work: "A Esquiva do Xondaro - movement and political action among the Guarani Mbya", winner of 2019 by the Norm and Sibby Whitten Publication Subvention Committee. The book to be published resulted from the dissertation by Lucas Keese, CEstA researcher, defended at PPGAS at the end of 2016 and was guided by Prof. Renato Sztutman.
  • The LASA - Brazil Section best doctoral thesis award granted to "Fragments of war: Images and visualities of the war against Paraguay (1865-1881)", Lúcia Klück Stumpf (Ph.D. University of São Paulo) and her supervisor , the profa.   • The CAPES Grand Prize of Thesis Sérgio Buarque de Holanda in 2014 (Large area of ​​Human Sciences)

  • The USP Thesis Highlights award in the Humanities area.

The artistic production of our professors and students has likewise received several awards and honorable mentions in recent years, among which stand out two Funarte Awards for Brazilian Music, awarded to works by students of the Graduate Program in Social Anthropology.
Among the prizes and mentions received by our teachers are: first place in the Plastic Arts category - photography in the contest Arte + Cultura, from the Pro-Rectory of Culture and University Extension of USP, for the photo essay “Images of Ethiopia”, by Sylvia Caiuby Novaes and the honorable mention in the Text category, received by Vagner Gonçalves da Silva; Jabuti Award, Best Art Book category 2016, by Lilia Schwarcz (with Adriano Pedrosa, Mestizo Histories Catalog. Rio de Janeiro / São Paulo. Cobogó Instituto Tomie Ohtake); nomination for the 2017 Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) Research Film Awards for the film “Tabuluja (Wake up)”, co-directed by Rose Satiko G. Hikiji, Jasper Chalcraft and Shambuyi Wetu.
Among our students, we highlight the Honorable Mention at the Belo Horizonte International Short Film Festival received by André Luís Lopes Neves and the choice of the film "IBURI Trompete dos Ticuna", by Edson Tosta Matarezio Filho, as the second best documentary at the Festival International Film Festival of the Curitiba Biennial in 2014 and, in 2015, the ProAC Award - Cultural Action Program, from the Government of the State of São Paulo for recording an authorial disc received by Paulo Menotti del Picchia. In 2013, the project “CRUSP em Vídeo”, by Danilo Bezerra, under the coordination of Sylvia Caiuby Novaes, received an Honorable Mention in the area of ​​Arts and the like, PRCEU-USP.
